On March 16, students from all around the world that want to study in Japan came to visit the Sendai International Center.

今回のテーマは、災害から身を守るアドバイス。

東日本大震災発生から約１年がたとうとしています。
仙台に住む外国人の皆さんへ、日ごろから防災の意識をもってもらうためのアドバイスを、各グループのスタッフが経験を交えてお知らせします。

If you are a visual learner and would like to study a language, would like to learn about Japan or other countries with your own eyes, or learn about a number of topics regarding the international community in Japan, then come to the Koryu Corner to watch some of the many DVDs and videos that we have available. Booths can be used by two people at the same time, so you can also bring a family member or friend!

Sendai International Center News (Japanese)

This month's visitor to the Koryu Corner is Jangmin Kang from Korea who first came to the Koryu Corner after the Great East Japan Earthquake to volunteer as a Korean translator/interpreter and provide useful information for other Koreans living in Sendai and Miyagi prefecture. 

Sendai International Relations Association offers a subsidy to cover some of the expenses for projects involving internationalization that are planned and carried out independently by Sendai residents.

The Sendai Turkish Association organizes cooking classes etc. each month and is currently holding paper marbling and other art classes at the Koryu Corner.

Lecture Room A & B and the Workshop are free spaces for use by registered groups who run international exchange, international cooperation and multicultural activities.

Sendai International Center News (Japanese)

This year's theme is titled "Empowering Civil Society for the Future of Japan".

Come and get hands-on experience in Japanese traditional culture at "HINAMATSURI　(Doll's Festival)"!   

The Miyagi area will stop broadcasting in analog on March 31st and will only broadcast using a digital signal. From April 1st people with only an analog television will be unable to view television shows.

On July 6, 2011, the Executive Director of the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth, Anna McFarland, led a delegation of four to Sendai to show the support from Dallas for those affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

たくさんの人にラジオを聞いてもらいたいと、真剣にセリフを練習していました。

フランスのルマン郊外でも、東日本大震災被災者に対する支援活動が行われています。

シャエニュという小さな村では、その村に住んでいる日本人が中心となり、９月まで支援活動やイベントが行われるそうです。

The Sendai Disaster Multilingual Support Center was established by Sendai International Relations Association (SIRA) after the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11 to provide foreigners with important information regarding the disaster and a hotline in which they can consult with a staff member or volunteer in their own language.
It has been decided to discontinue the Sendai Disaster Multilingual Support Center on Saturday, April 30, but starting from Sunday, May 1, the Sendai International Center's Koryu Corner will begin providing information regarding the disaster and a hotline (022-224-1919) in a range of languages.

（財）仙台国際交流協会では、３月１１日の東日本大震災発生以降、仙台市が仙台国際センター内に設置した仙台市災害多言語支援センターを運営し、市民ボランティアや関係機関からの協力を得て外国人被災者のための多言語情報発信や電話相談などを行ってきました。応急的支援の段階は完了しましたので、４月３０日をもって仙台市災害多言語支援センターとしての活動を終了します。
なお、５月１日以降も、多言語による情報発信や電話相談などは、仙台国際センター交流コーナー(電話022-224-1919)　において継続して実施します。

Life at the shelter is different from the life surrounding before, which will cause various inconvenience and you tend to tolerate as you hesitate and care about your surroundings. Furthermore, it is likely to lose health because of the fatigue and stress caused by damages.

現時点ではガスの復旧のめどは立っていません。一ヶ月程度で復旧することは困難な状況です。

At present, we don't know when we can resume gas supply.

遺体安置所がある利府町のグランディー２１まで無料バスを運行します。

避難所では、寒さや慣れない環境で集団生活をしなくてはならず、体の抵抗力が低下することでさまざまな感染症が流行する可能性があります。

家庭ごみを３月１５日（火）よりいつもの曜日に集めます。

ごみの収集車のガソリンが不足していますので、一度に出すごみの量を少なくしてください。そのほかのごみ（缶、びん、ペットボトル、紙類）などはまだ集めません。
